Super Bowl Kind Of Parents
Sherry and I are navigating our last daughter through marriage (May 16th!!). We are working on getting Michael launched and into college by fall. And so far… so good.
There seems to be payoff after years of parenting and hard work. By the grace of God and marrying a smokin’ hot incredible wife – our kids love and serve Jesus, seem to function well in the big world, have honed skills, make the right decisions, work hard, and love well.
Sherry and I don’t have all the parenting answers, but I’d bet we’ll write a book someday. I DO love teaching this stuff.
So… I’m excited to be handling our next Gospel Works message this coming Sunday. My assignment is: “Gospel Works In Our Kids To Trust & Obey.” That’s no little assignment. PLUS, it’s Super Bowl Sunday. This one has got to be excellent AND timely, so the nachos don’t grow cold.
I hope to give 4 keys to great parenting, look closely at the Hebrew Shema found in Deuteronomy 6, pay tribute to Kobe Bryant, and linger a bit longer taking communion in a new, thoughtful way. Oh… and I want to do this in 30 minutes or less.
(I just heard Sherry laugh in the hallway. Sigh.)
Seriously, this Sunday, I think you can walk away with some championship parenting tips – with Jesus at the very center of it all. Our kids will learn to trust and obey when parents do things HIS way. Let’s learn how to do ALL things, inclusive of our parenting, His way.
Whether you’re a parent, soon-to-be parent, wanna-be parent, hope to be a parent, a grandparent, help parent other people’s kids, or understand God as your parent (did I cover everyone?) – there will be something just for you this Sunday.
And here’s the deal: the Super Bowl doesn’t start til 6:30 p.m. Church is at 9 & 11 a.m., and it’s supposed to be a bright and beautiful day! So… wear your colors and see you on Sunday, bruh.
Blessings,
alan
