a glimpse towards Sunday 9.19.14
The family has been in Blue Ridge, GA for a few days. All of us! With just 22 days away from Brooklynn’s wedding, the timing of this get away could not have been better.
After lunch today, the plan is to pull out our Bibles and do a little Bible study while gazing out over God’s great, mountainous creation. We’ll create our own Mastercard commercial. Priceless! I’m expecting to see life and light and energy fused into my wife and kids as we dive into God’s Word. Priceless!
It’s living and active, you know. The Bible. God’s Word breathes and moves and directs in powerful ways. I see It’s unquestionable affects in my family over and over again.
I love the tremendous continuity of the Bible. God’s story of creation, fall, redemption, and restoration runs vividly throughout all the pages of scripture. Jesus can be seen just as powerfully in the Old Testament as he is in the New.
This Sunday will be a great example of this. We’ll be trekking through Genesis 3:21-24. Finishing up this worldview-shaping third chapter of Genesis with these last four verses will be an incredibly powerful thing. We’ll see Jesus. We’ll see God’s plan of atoning our sins and providing a way back into His garden of shalom. We’ll see the grand, unwavering story of the gospel. We’ll see pistachios! Whaaaa? Just make sure you’re a part of our gatherings at 9 & 11 a.m. and you’ll see what I mean. I promise.
