a glimpse towards Sunday 4.1.15

How’s your holy week? Boy I wish I had a nickel every time someone’s asked me that one this week! Actually… nobody has asked me that. Have you been contemplating the steps of Jesus during His final week as you go through these days leading up to Easter?

Wednesday was Jesus’ quiet day. All hell is about to break loose, but on Wednesday… perhaps… Jesus and his friends rested. Perhaps they went back to Bethany to rest. Jesus was preparing to head into a sleepless, draining, bloody, excruciating 48 hours, but by God’s grace He rested on Wednesday.

How are you heading into Good Friday? You should set aside time to reflect and remember the agony of Jesus death. Nobody killed Jesus. He willingly died to pay the penalty of the law in our lives. This Friday from 7-8 p.m., we’ll be having a special Good Friday memorial service at Cumberland Community Church. Bring friends and family to this very special, creative gathering that will MAKE your Easter celebration even more so. (We’ll have child care available for kids 8 wks. – 2 yrs. old during the Good Friday service.)

Then Sunday we’ll celebrate. Man we’ll celebrate. The curse has been broken and forever defeated. Shalom through Jesus can now be restored. Anyone need a little peace and shalom in their life? There really is only one way to have lasting peace.

On Sunday we’ll be talking about an angst or curse most everyone feels and confronts as they try to live in this broken universe. We’ll still be in Galatians and our Ragamuffin series. Providentially, Galatians 3:10-14 is our text. The curse is gone! This text will walk us right into the resurrection. I really cannot wait to teach.

I planned this Ragamuffin series last summer. The strong text of Galatians 3:10-14 “just happened” to fall on Easter. While people were soaking in the sun and sipping their Coronas with a straw, God was mapping out his Word in all our lives with His perfect timing. Nobody will be at Cumberland this Easter without having direct affect from the sovereign will of God. How cool is that? God’s design is all over us, and I cannot wait to see a piece of it unfold this Sunday… EASTER SUNDAY… at Cumberland.

I hope and pray you’ve been able to invite a friend. Please use THIS EASTER VIDEO INVITE to reach out to a friend or neighbor. I’m looking forward to seeing you and meeting your friends as we gather this Friday night at 7 p.m. & Sunday at 9 & 11 a.m.

Megan & Kyle have planned such great, creative Good Friday & Easter services. You really will be kicking yourself if you miss these. The band will be rockin’. We’ve got a brand new 180 video from Ryan Powers for Easter. I just saw this in the production room. We think it might be one of our strongest 180 stories ever. It’s right on time… God’s time… for Easter.

See you all on this weekend. Please take a look at a few of our needs going into the weekend.
Blessings!
