a glimpse towards Sunday 5.29.15

Certainly all of us have dealt with an identity crisis at one time or another.

In third grade, I was convinced my little league baseball skills would afford me the starting line up with the Cincinnati Reds when I grew up.

At age ten, I preached my first sermon from behind a huge pulpit high atop a step stool so I could see. One gracious older lady wrote, “Such a big sermon for a little man.” I didn’t know if that was a compliment or a cut on my stature. I wondered if yelling at people from the safety of a big wooden barrier might possibly be a career move when I grew up.

By seventh grade, I was asking my parents if I could drop out of school and pursue my life calling as a professional tennis player when I grew up.

As a freshman at Eastern Kentucky University, my sights were set on a marketing/PR track when I grew up.

What do you want to be when you grow up… in Jesus? When Christ is fully formed in you, what do you hope that looks like? Do you think we go through spiritual identity crises? Ever think about our choices of spiritual identities? On Sunday we’re going to unpack those options. This will be a very practical journey through Galatians 4:21-31.

On Sunday, you’ll know where you stand and where you might need to be. Are you: 1) self righteous; 2) a rule follower; 3) a rebel; 4) or a ragamuffin? These are the possible spiritual identities we’ll wrestle with during our Sunday gatherings at 9 & 11 a.m.

Kyle & Megan will have a rockin’ band and choir to lead the way come Sunday. May Jesus move and your identity crisis end on Sunday. I hope to see you there. You should bring a friend or two. Don’t you think everyone struggles with this identity thing?

Blessings Ya’ll,
