KENYA

Glory Outreach Assembly

Glory Outreach Assembly has been working in Kenya for 30 years growing disciples of Christ through Church Planting, Compassion Ministries, Discipleship, Leadership Training and Peace Making. Cumberland partners with 5 of GOA’s children’s homes across Kenya, including Beat the Drum where children with HIV/Aids receive care and love. GOA has their own high school at their Tumaini children’s home where students who aren’t enrolled in public high school can receive a quality education. These children’s homes are supported by child sponsorship programs, allowing others to have a direct impact on a student’s life in Kenya.

Cumberland also partners with GOA’s church planting work. They train pastors through Bible schools, and then work to place them in areas needing churches. GOA has a long history of working with the Turkana people, an unreached people group in the north of Kenya. They have started schools there, including an adult literacy class, and are seeing wonderful results from eager learners.

ECUADOR

Freedom & Nancy Rodriguez

Freedom and Nancy Rodriguez are artist-missionaries serving in Quito, Ecuador. They were members of Cumberland working as artists stateside when God confirmed their call to the mission field, and we joyfully sent them out to pursue a unique style of ministry.

They now use their talents to lead others in a personal, Gospel-centered way through fine arts. Projects include weekly art lessons for students, fellowship, and Project SmartBox, which provides back-to-school supplies and hygiene items to students in need.

GREECE

Stephan & Mary Calhoun

Stephan and Mary Calhoun were part of the Cumberland Church family when God called them to the mission field during a short-term mission trip to Greece almost two decades ago.  Since then, they have partnered with Hellenic Ministries, which has a number of ministries across Greece including refugee care, a sailing ministry to more remote islands, a Christian TV show, and other methods of planting the Gospel in hearts across the country

Stephan’s work is focused on supporting ministry sites in Crete and Ioannina (sounds like “Yanninah”), and expanding the Gospel into these areas.  Stephan trains leaders and supports them as they develop outreach ministries in new areas.  Over time they begin Bible studies and eventually plant churches as more people come to faith.

INDIA

Tabitha's Heart

Tabitha’s Heart shares love and compassion with the people of Kolkata, India. They provide desperately poor children with the services they need to break the cycle of poverty, including access to school, tutoring, meals, and safe shelter.

Tabitha’s Heart also empowers local women, particularly single mothers, by facilitating small business classes. The skills and business acumen learned in a safe setting allows the women to make their own living, breaking generational poverty cycles.

GIVE | Change the world.

How We Operate

We take the call to “go to the nations” seriously, and we are strategic in our approach once we get there. We believe that each community should direct its own development. Each has different needs, and local residents often have a much better understanding of these needs than those on the outside.

To ensure that our ministries are relevant and will have a long-term impact, we pursue programs and projects based on local community leaders’ requests and invitation. This process also helps to organize and train local leadership in decision-making, which is critical for the sustainability and well-being of future generations.

GO | Be Present.

While we depend on and greatly appreciate financial gifts, we believe that the gift of presence is uniquely transformational. Through time together, we build mutually enriching relationships for an eternal impact.
