“If you give yourself to the hungry and satisfy the desire of the afflicted, then shall your light rise in the darkness and your gloom be as the noonday. And the Lord will guide you continually, and satisfy your desire with good things, and make your bones strong; and you shall be like a watered garden, like a spring of water whose waters fail not.” –Isaiah 58:10

Our Mission 2017 theme is “GIVE YOURSELF.”

As I re-read last year’s Mission Prayer Book, I was so encouraged by all of the answered prayers over the past year. Through your prayers and self-sacrifice, more people now know Christ, and God’s promise in Isaiah 58:10 is being fulfilled. Whole villages in the unreached area of Turkana, Kenya have come to know Christ, and a new school has been started. Mathare Slum is being transformed through salvation and sustainable work projects. Greece is becoming a Gospel center for refugees.  More people than ever are going on short-term missions. God is awakening many people to serve full-time on the foreign and local mission fields.  Local universities are being reached with the Gospel.  Smyrna is undergoing transformation. Now, by faith, we are going to the unreached people groups of northern India.

Prayer changes people and reaches nations. As John Piper said:

“Our God is ready and willing to answer our prayers. The injustice is for us to have free access to the Gospel and the ability to share it, and yet we do not seek God in prayer on behalf of the nations. We must go on believing the promises of God in relation to the nations and cultivate our relationship with God in prayer.”

Please commit to pray each day using the daily entry in this prayer book, and watch God take action as He did last year. Give yourself.
